Sneak Peak

Today we received a couple of pictures of the homes we'll be constructing while in Haiti.  Aren't they beautiful?  We know that these homes will bless the new residents beyond their imagination.  What a mighty God we serve!!!

The Hour of Departure Is At Hand

Last night we had our last team meeting before departing in just 7 days  for an unforgettable experience in Haiti.  As a team we anxiously await an opportunity to serve.  However, we don't go having every question answered or every nerve calmed, but we go in the all sufficient grace and strength of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

During our meeting, Joey, our team leader, led us in a group study on Paul's message in Philippians 2.  We used the seventh verse as our key verse.  We understood that like Jesus we are called to be servants and that servanthood requires humility.  We were reminded to esteem others better than ourselves and to not allow distractions, frustrations or any differences to keep us from completing the task at hand.  We must be prepared to be challenged in ways we have never been challenged before, but also to expect God to use us in ways we've never been used before.  What an awesome privilege and what delight we have in knowing that God hand picked us for this assignment!

Additionally, we reviewed an information packet we received from Love a Child (www.loveachild.com), the organization with whom we're partnering to build the homes.  The packet answered many of our questions and told us what to expect during our time in Haiti.  We will indeed receive three meals a day, clean drinking water and luxurious accommodations in our tent.  What more could we ask for :-).

Once again we solicit your prayers for our team and for EVERY person with whom we will come into contact in Haiti.  Please pray that we would shine as lights in the midst of darkness and that the love of Christ would extend from our hearts and be deposited in theirs. There is a possibility that we will not be able to post to the blog during the week.  If you don't see any postings, please continue to intercede in prayer for us.

Thank you in advance.

Grace and Peace,

WELCOME

Welcome to the Seacoast Church Haiti Construction Mission Team Blog.

We are an excited group of 15 individuals about to embark on an unforgettable journey.  We feel privileged and honored that the Lord has chosen us as His servants for this assignment.  We love our brothers and sisters in Haiti and are looking forward to an opportunity to share with them the Love of Christ as we assist with the building of permanent and semi-permanent homes.  We will be in Fond Parisien, just outside of Port au Prince and have partnered with Love a Child, Inc. an orphanage that is housing thousands of refugees.

In preparation for our trip we have had several team meetings and a couple of fundraisers.  These events have been an incredible time in which interesting facts have been revealed and we've grown as a team.  Some of the things you may not know about us is that our fearless leader, Joey, was the fifth grade teacher assistant for team member Diana, we have an awesome husband and wife martial arts couple with us and collectively, our team members have been in at least 5 of the 7 continents.  Not bad, huh :-)

Please check the blog often.  This will be especially important while we're in Haiti as we will post prayer requests here and updates directly from the mission field.

Grace and Peace!
